Commercial Fishing photo Of the Day | F/V Ocean Angel V Night Fishin
So far this summer, it’s been a strange salmon season in Alaska. Bristol Bay managed to dodge the Rona and produced a pretty hardy run. Area M was pretty much a disaster and Southeast sounds even worse for salmon. So, I managed to wrap up the summer of salmon searching with a little bit of Monterey Squid. In the photo above, The Ocean Angel V is drying up a set just north of Santa Cruz. It sounds like the place to be this spring was Monterey. Some boats have already caught 600 tons by this point of the summer. Typically, the squid run will slow down at the end of summer and pick back up in the fall. I’m just hoping that we head up towards San Fran for a little reconnaissance mission.
