Its my first summer not fishing in Alaska for salmon since 1998. It’s hard not to miss those silvery jumping salmon and the friendly smiles of familiar fishermen. This year, I made the choice to stick and stay on the squid game. We’ve had pretty decent success this spring, so the summer seemed like an easy choice, considering the sad state of the southeast pink runs. Only two years after the largest run in history, fishermen are struggling with price and volume of the tricky little pink salmon.
