This year’s squid season is off to a bang. Fishermen from the local fleet have been enjoying record harvests since October. In fact, the last time squid came to these regions in such large numbers was during the last La Nina triple whammy nearly 10 years ago. The squid arrived in droves, just as fishermen had hoped. As a result of the large landing last evening, Silver Bay Seafoods is currently plugged at the processing end. It is possible that the squid season will end a little earlier than expected if this huge volume continues into the new year.
