The Gig Harbor Blessing Of The Fleet is just plain awesome! It’s been nearly 8 years since I’ve been able to attend this blessed event and I forgot how much extraordinary fishing history is associated with this tiny water town. I got a full tour of the F/V Alavon, which is a perfectly restored and functional seiner built initially in Gig Harbor nearly 100 years ago. The entire event was a real treat. Sadly, it leads up to the next project, which is destroying a seiner very much like this one.
