On Saturday, people from all over Washington State brought kayaks, canoes, fishing boats, motor boats, paddle boards, jet skis, and more out to the southern coast of Bainbridge Island.
They brought signs, they brought a massive inflatable orca and inflatable salmon, and they brought their voice. They came from all walks of life. Fishermen, conservationists, recreation-ists, concerned citizens, all out on the water together, peacefully, saying one thing: PROTECT PUGET SOUND!
It was a beautiful event, and we write today simply to say thank you to all of you who attended or supported the campaign in any way. A campaign is only as strong as the people who make it up, and we’re lucky to have all of you on board. We couldn’t have done it without the enthusiasm and support of each and every single one of you.
The fight against Atlantic salmon net pens in Puget Sound is not over, of course. There’s a lot of work left to do, and we’re not going anywhere. The Our Sound, Our Salmon campaign still has a lot on the agenda looking forward, and we hope you continue to join us.
