Blood, Sweat & Salt is a short documentary film about trawler fishing in North East Dublin and the men who earn a living working in an industry under threat. The themes explored in the film include politics, bravery and the harshness of a life at sea.
The film takes a look at the current state of the commercial fishing industry in Ireland today, with a focus on the brave fishermen, who perform this job, in order to support their families financially and in their own way, keep our communities alive.
The film makes use of the observational and interactive documentary techniques, with the story being shaped by what the participants were willing to reveal. Blood, Sweat & Salt was shot entirely on a Canon 600D and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro.
