The Togiak herring fishery is over. The weather and the wind beat us to the quota this year. We are also on the heels of an unsuccessful Sitka Herring Run. What this means for the future of herring is quite concerning. I’m currently switching vessels and heading to Dutch Habor. I’ll be transporting the F/V Stella Jo to Dutch Harbor and then fly south from there.
