Normally these cute little sea otters are admired and loved by tourists. However, most alaska fishermen respect the animal, but realize that they go unchecked in the food chain. Basically, it has few predators and abundant food sources, including Dungy crab. So, Alaska Natives harvest the sea otters each season for their fur and to cull the population.
