In the spring of 2008, fishermen involved in the Sitka Sac Roe Herring harvest landed some of the biggest sets ever recorded during the fishery. While one boat, the Infinite Glory, technically had the largest set at just over 1500 tons, few people realize that three boats managed to haul in sets over 1000 tons in a shallow little cove just off Kruzof Island. The F/V Jill and I, and The F/V Leading Lady, both managed to keep their humongous sets as well. It took nearly three days to pump the fish out of these nets and this event remains one of the greatest commercial fishing stories of all time. The photo that most people refer to as the biggest set is really a picture of the F/V Jill and I. You can see the photo here.
