The crew of the F/V Halcyon are gearing up for another salmon season in Southeast Alaska. The majority of the crew live in Port Townsend, WA for the winter, so much of the boat work is being done there this spring. The harbor facilities are reasonably priced and it’s a nice break from the Fishermen’s Terminal in Seattle. As you can see, the biggest upgrade this year is the bulbous bow, which will help lift and propel the boat thru the water more efficiently. A new skiff engine is in the works for this preseason, too. I’m sure there will be plenty left for me to do when I get down there. Here’s a video of the gang in action during the summer of 2010.
