Summer Salmon 2014 | First Opener | Hidden Falls

After a rapid fire preseason and a full net overhaul, the F/V Quandary is ready for a new season of salmon slaying. The season is still early, but a dozen seiners showed up for the Hidden Falls early hatchery returns. Most boats were hoping for early Hatchery kings that might be coming in.
The day started with a more than typical cloudy southeast rainy haze, and developed into a gorgeous sunny bluebird day. I couldn’t think of a better way to start the season. Oh yeah, I know. Salmon! The day was for from fruitful, but the experience gained will give our crew a jump start on all of the crews that haven’t even started the season. So, here’s to a great day of salmon fishing in Southeast Alaska. I would also like to give a big Happy Fathers Day shout out to all the dads that are busy catching salmon.
