Perfect Storm Rocks Southeast Alaska

The weather is downright crappy in Juneau.  The winds have been gusting up to 60 miles an hour for the past couple of days.  No doubt, this is a direct result of the Typhoon off the coast of Japan.  Whatever the cause is, I’m ready for a reprieve from the cold wind and rain.

  1. Totally with you. We had whitecaps in the harbor in Sitka on Wednesday, gusts to 63 in town. Ended up being a great way to test the winterizing we’d done, make sure the lines were good before walking away. Today was the first day of our reprieve, back in B’ham. Hope there’s a reprieve in your future, too, and glad to hear that you guys had such a great season!

  2. Petersburg got 80 mph winds..according to a wind reader the airport has. part of the roof came off the airport building trees down all over

  3. Was cruising on the Statendam and the gusts and high seas caused us to miss Glacier Bay, College Fjord, Haines, Sitka and Ketchikan. So disappointing, but the captain did a fine job of navigating the roiling sea!
